Organic Model

This is my almost-final organic model all textured and whatnot. I'm pretty satisfied, but I would like to go back in and add more details that add to the character. These past two projects have really been awesome; I love Maya so much more than 3Ds Max.

Architectual Interior

This was my final rendered scene for a textured and modeled architectual interior. I'm definitely very proud of this piece! It was created using Maya, and I got a lot of help on lighting from a friend. There are still things I would like to add eventually, but for now I'm very pleased. :)

I like the fall because I get to wear cozy scarves and sweaters.

This was my entry into the Blockhead festival at school. Spent the weekend coloring and adding on to a simple pencil test of the raccoon's walk cycle.

End of the Quarter Stuff

A collection of some of my finals projects. The happy Earth was for my ethics creative project. It wasn't a huge effort or anything, but graphically I like it. The roller skate was for my intermediate modeling class. I am incredibly proud of this model. I spent over 20 hours on it in Maya using my own Riedell R3 as a reference.

WIP. Doing a digital painting for my mother's birthday.

I wish I were this cool-looking when I was a little kid.

3D Cafe interior

My first project for intermediate 3D modeling. We were required to model an architectual interior. Using a photo reference, I made this cafe. Also, sorry about the poor quality and small size. Blogspot apparently can't do this video justice.

A character design I drew up while I was sitting at the Minnesota Comic Convention. It took maybe 5-6 hours in Photoshop. The video is my inverse kinematic walk cycle for my intro to 3D animation class. It was completely rigged and animated by myself, and I gotta say I'm pretty proud of this one. :)

Just some thoughts

I just started the new quarter (yay?) and so far it's going pretty well. I like my 3D animation class, and it's not as tooth-pulling-painful as I thought it would be.

But I have an environmental science class, and it's making me think a lot more about, well just stuff. The environment has always been important to me. I'm not a tree-loving hippie who wears hemp, and I eat meat. I love meat in fact. mmmmmm. Meat. But I grew up loving animals too; I still do. And I've lost a lot of that with this major. I think that our school and our major especially is very sheltered when it comes to the bigger picture. And I don't want to drop out or give up animation; I love animation. But I have been confused. Maybe Pixar is not what I want? What I want are two different things, and I guess I'm unsure how to combine them, or if I even want that.

mer...... I don't know anymore.

Finally finished my school quarter and ended it with one stressful finals week! But anyway, I still have a lot more school to look forward too......

My next quarter schedule is as follows:

M/W: 3D Animation & Environmental Science

T/R: Fundamentals of IMD (Yeah I have no idea what that stands for, it's basically a beginner's web design class...?)

But lately I've been trying to learn how to skate so I can someday, hopefully get into a roller derby league. It's a fat chance, I know, considering I have the coordination and agility equal to that of a newborn fawn. My parents never really encouraged me to get into any team sports when I was a kid, and that is one thing I regret. All I can really do is draw, which isn't bad, but when you go to school all day to draw, you sometimes want a little more. I am pretty much starting from ground-zero learning skating, but it's a challenge for myself, and it's a good way to escape the frustration and all the same people I see at school everyday. I love it. Even though right now I kinda suck at it.

My dinosaur head modeled in 3Ds Max/Mudbox

So way back when in advanced drawing we were assigned a "5 styles project" where we were supposed to create a self portrait in the art styles of other artists.

I decided to redo mine again with all new artists to not only expand on my personal style, but to work on drawing myself.

here's a WIP of my piece, inspired by Anita Mejia. http://chocolate-derretido.blogspot.com/
